Someone vandalized Spoonbridge and Cherry with “Kony.”

This is the biggest bunch of bullshit. I’ve been arguing against vandalism with my friends who are all “first amendment” and “artistic expression” and “graffiti isn’t vandalism,” and yet we all agree on this point. Plus, the #KONY2012 campaign was deceptive from the beginning (supporting militias that rape/murder their own tribes) and now it turns out the Ugandans themselves are upset at this “awareness” campaign and Invisible Children’s grandstanding, to say nothing of the public masturbation. So the uneducated asshole who did this piece of work has absolutely zero friends in Minneapolis. (Or if he has friends, they are also unlikable, valueless assholes anyone would be better off without.)

This isn’t the internet folks. Please don’t put things on our landmarks to make yourself feel good, or like you’re doing something for someone else. It’s really moronic. Many people are saying “well they’re getting a lot of press and giving them publicity is what they want”. No. Seriously? That’s like the whole “racism will go away if we don’t talk about it”. It’s another one of those arguments that I refuse to have with people on the grounds that it’s GETTING OLD. No. I don’t give to shits if people talk about this, it’s a landmark of Minneapolis, and people (if they support it or not) need to be aware of what the community as a whole thinks of it. Personally. I think it’s bullshit. There. Okay. Good. If you support this action that was taken to deface a public item, let’s not be friends. Just unfollow me, and we’re good. Don’t give me shit, and I won’t give you any.

Though. I did find someone who tagged “Kony 2012” and someone responded with a paper sign and the troll face. Which I can get behind.

Hey guys.

I really never use tumblr. I have unfollowed people I don’t know in person as of this point, that includes blogs about animals, pretty things, faucets, etc. I don’t plan on making tumblr my main blog ever, so it’s nothing personal. Normally I just need to see a few things, if anything here, that relate to the people who are updating their art here.
